Rihanna displays her hairdressing skills as she pampers supermodel pal Cara Delevingne ahead of New Year’s Eve night out

2 Jan

She’s a talented singer and dancer, and has even branched out into the world of fashion in recent years.
And it would seem Rihanna has yet another string to add to her bow as she displayed her hairdressing skills on best pal Cara Delevingne in New York on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old singer treated her supermodel friend to a spot of pampering before they headed out to ring in 2014 on New Year’s Eve.
Posting a number of intimate snaps on her Instagram page, the Diamonds hitmaker was seen whipping up the British catwalk queen’s long blonde locks into a high ponytail as they prepared to head out for a night on the town.
Showcasing her killer figure in all its glory, the Bajan beauty looked incredible in a plunging black satin cropped basque and oyster-coloured tailored silk trousers.
Accessorising her party ensemble with a statement diamond choker and matching earrings, Rihanna channelled old Hollywood glamour with retro curls, a slick of pillar-box red lipstick and fluttering false eyelashes.

The pop superstar seemed intent on looking picture perfect for her evening out on the town, and was tended to by a troupe of make-up artists to ensure she was preened and pampered to perfection.
Rihanna treated her best pals to a sumptuous dinner, before the gang headed out to see in the new year at the 40/40 club owned by Jay-Z, located near Madison Square Park in lower Manhattan.
And it would appear Cara had a very good night indeed, with the 21-year-old model posting an Instagram snap on Wednesday morning of herself lying in bed.

Alongside the shot, she wrote: ‘Last night was EPIC! Morning 2014 #ouch.’
Later in the evening, the girls headed out into the bright lights of New York, with Rihanna wrapping up in a cosy white fur coat that wouldn’t have looked out of place on the likes of Snoop Dogg or Rick Ross.
But if the jacket wasn’t outlandish enough, the star decided to wrap a white-jewelled encrusted headband with a veil to complete the look.
Underneath the chunky coat, the singer wore a shiny white suit with a black strapless bodice and teetered on towering pink heels.
Meanwhile, Cara wore a matching zip detail crop top and pencil skirt, but arrived with her favourite parka coat with a camouflage lining.
The pair headed to the 40/40 club owned by Jay-Z, which is located near Madison Square Park in lower Manhattan.
Rihanna was hosting the new year celebrations at the club, and clearly wanted all of the guests to dress up for the occasion.
A source told the Sun: ‘Rihanna has had extra bottles of Armand de Brignac rosé champagne, costing £300 a time, shipped into New York especially the knees up.
‘Her and Cara – and others including Rihanna’s ex Drake – made sure to see 2014 arrive in some style.
‘Their room was private to the rest of the club – and kitted out with snooker tables and giant TVs for her closest friends and family to enjoy. Rihanna never does things half-heartedly.’
‘Fellaz, this is your night to dress like gentlemen! The ladies wanna be impressed!! Ladies, y’all already know what to do… #NYE #4040 #NYC,’ she tweeted on Tuesday night.
Before they went out, Rihanna, Cara and their crew shared a video message on Instagram.
Ri Ri had spent Christmas in her home country of Barbados, where Delevingne also happened to be spending the festive season.
The 21-year-old supermodel shared a snap on Saturday night of her cuddling up to her Barbadian-born BFF as the pair beamed matching heavy-lidded smiles.
They found some time to hang out together on the Caribbean island before heading to New York to see in 2014.
Cara has previously praised her ‘amazing’ BFF, telling Grazia: ‘She’s so sweet. She’s calling me a rockstar and I was like, ‘But you’re Rihanna! You’re mental. You’re amazing. I always take style advice from her.’

She wants Moore of him: Actress Demi flaunts her slim figure as she hits beach in Mexico with new toyboy lover

2 Jan

It looks like Demi Moore is starting the new year on a high as the 51-year-old actress was pictured frolicking on a beach with a gorgeous and heavily tattooed young man on Monday.
The pair are currently on holiday in Tulum, Mexico along with Demi’s eldest daughter, Rumur Willis her rumoured boyfriend, Jayson Blair and a handful of pals.
Demi looked youthful and in great shape as she hit the beach wearing a burgundy bikini which had a black and white striped trim.

She wore simple black sunglasses which she nearly lost to the sea at one point, as an over-zealous wave approached her and a simple pendant necklace.
Hew new toyboy wore patterned board shorts and his body was heavily tattooed.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six, the heavily-inked hunk is named Sean and ‘works in the music business’.
On his left arm, two faces were inked on which looked like British model Twiggy and Professor Xavier from the X-Men Marvel Comics.
Most striking was the giant owl inking which was drawn across the width of his chest but he also had a variety of tattoos on his arms and back.
The pair made the most of their time together and they played in the sand with one of their friend’s cute children before hitting the sea with a group of their pals.
The perennial cougar swam on her man’s back as they made their way through the waves and at one point they shared a giggle over something funny.
They looked incredibly happy in each other’s company as they bobbed along in the water.
The GI Jane star nearly flashed onlookers twice throughout the day. Once when she adjusted her bikini bottoms and another time when she pinged her bikini straps as if they were braces.
At one point, Demi’s man dived through a giant wave as the mum-of-three looked on protectively.
It is not known how long they have been dating for or if they are even an official item, but no doubt Demi is happy to be having some luck in the romance department.
Especially with such a handsome and youthful looking chap.
Demi is now officially a single lady after she finalised her divorce from Ashton Kutcher in November. The pair wed in 2005 and separated two years later.
Ashton is now happily loved-up with Mila Kunis and the pair are rumoured to be on the brink of walking down the aisle.
There are also rumours that Mila may be pregnant with their first child together, although these are unsubstantiated.
Since her split from Kutcher, Moore has been linked to a number of men but nothing has been considered a serious relationship.
She was linked to Hard Rock founder Peter Morton, 66, who she reportedly met while dating his 31-year old son Harry, and this year in May, the actress was dating Will Hanigan, 30, a commercial pearl diver from Australia.
There were also rumours that she was dating 27-year old Vito Schnabel, the art dealer son director Julian Schnabel.
No doubt Demi was pleased to also be spending some quality time with her 25-year-old daughter Rumer.
On Thursday, her daughter Instagrammed a gorgeous picture of herself and her mother alongside the caption: ‘I feel so lucky I got to start my new year off with my mom and a lovely group of friends.’
The duo look more like sisters as they sit behind a wooden candlelit table.
MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for Demi Moore for comment.

Coronation Street singleton Kym Marsh exchanges flirty tweets with Blackpool striker Michael Chopra after meeting on night out

2 Jan

After a difficult year which has seen her file for divorce for the second time, Kym Marsh has been enjoying a Twitter flirt with Blackpool striker Michael Chopra.
The 37-year-old Coronation Street actress was messaging the footballer after the pair met on a night out with Kym’s Corrie cast mate Antony Cotton.
Michael, 30, was married in 2007 but the relationship broke down just seven months into the marriage when his wife changed her relationship status on Facebook to single.

The footballer has previously had issues with gambling and gave evidence about his betting when he appeared as a witness in a cocaine trial in November.
The pair had a flirty exchange on Twitter after a night out on December 21, with the former Hear’Say singer revealing they had been drinking and partying together.
MIchael tweeted Kym signing off with a kiss: ‘@msm4rsh thanks u hav a good night last night x.’
Kym replied indicating the pair had spent the night drinking together: ‘Yep but sore head no thanks to you!!!! ‘
Adding: ‘Something like that!! Can’t believe I didn’t have a headache this morning!!! That drink you like is rank by the way!!! X’
To which Michael replied mysteriously: ‘@msm4rsh amaretto the way forward haha will let u choose next time x.’

The former singer has reverted to her maiden name after initiating divorce proceedings against estranged husband Jamie Lomas, citing ‘unreasonable behaviour’ as a key reason for the split following allegations that she slept with former co-star Oliver Mellor.
Writing on the micro-blogging site as her year to forget drew to a close, Kym admitted she was looking ahead to bigger and better things over the next 12 months.
‘Cannot wait for 2014 leaving behind the bad and looking forward to the good. #newbeginnings,’ she wrote on December 29.
Mail Online contacted Kym Marsh’s spokesman who said said: ‘This story is complete and utter nonsense.’

‘I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate’: Nigella Lawson reveals how she coped with ‘mortifying’ drug revelations in trial she barely remembers

2 Jan

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson has spoken publicly for the first time about how she has coped with ‘mortifying’ allegations about habitual drug use and her collapsed marriage to Charles Saatchi.
The mother-of-two appeared on U.S. TV show Good Morning America to promote her new cooking show, but was also asked about the high-profile court case that shed light on her complicated home life.
Throughout the the fraud trial of her two former PAs last month, she said today her ‘only desire’ was to protect her children but ‘alas I couldn’t always do’.
‘I was so focused on answering questions that you don’t have much awareness of yourself…It’s a good thing. I was trying to protect my children as much as possible,’ she told GMA.

Miss Lawson appeared on the morning show to promote the new season of TV show The Taste where she stars alongside fellow chefs Anthony Bourdain, Marcus Samuelsson and Ludo Lefebvre.
In a relaxed interview on the network her new panel show is on, she revealed she had been ‘eating a lot of chocolate’ to cope.
But the first questions were for Miss Lawson who along with a court case amid a media frenzy, endured a bitter and very public divorce from her advertising mogul husband Mr Saatchi.
Miss Lawson told host Amy Robach that she was looking forward to new beginnings but that it had been a difficult year.
She said today: ‘I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate, had a good Christmas and I’m into the new year.’
The TV star admitted that the ‘distortion of your private life on display is mortifying’ but added: ‘To dwell on it is self-pity… now its 2014 and there’s pie’.
Miss Lawson offered Robach a spoonful of lemon meringue pie to promote The Taste, a show which she has described as ‘Masterchef meets The Voice’. The first episode airs in America tonight and on Channel 4 in the UK on January 7.
Nigella’s acrimonious split from Charles Saatchi has hogged headlines across the world, alongside her confession in court that she has used cocaine seven times in her life and accusations by former PAs Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo sisters that she ‘let her children smoke cannabis’.
The chef landed in the U.S. on January 1. She tweeted on Wednesday: ‘It’s not entirely fair that my first meal of 2014 will be aeroplane food…. Lightening dash to America: hope time to eat well too.’

Last month, the Grillo sisters were acquitted and Lawson admitted during the trial that she took cocaine with her late husband John Diamond when he found out he had terminal cancer, and in 2010 when she claimed she was being ‘subjected to intimate terrorism’ by her former husband Mr Saatchi.
Police are to review her admission that she took the Class A drug.
Miss Lawson admitted taking cocaine seven times. She admitted she had also smoked cannabis during the collapse of her ‘doomed’ marriage to Saatchi but insisted she was not a long-term or habitual user. She said she had been drug free since leaving the relationship.
Giving evidence at Isleworth Crown Court in West London, Miss Lawson said she had faced ‘a long summer of bullying and abuse’ which she said had been ‘dedicated to salvaging Mr Saatchi’s reputation and savaging mine’.

Happy New Year ♥

People who are religious or spiritual have ‘thicker’ brains which could protect them against depression

1 Jan

They say religion is a matter of the heart – but it seems the shape of our brains could also have a role to play.
Believers or those with a spiritual side have ‘thicker’ sections of brain tissue than other people, a study suggests.
And in welcome news for the faithful, the researchers think that this thickening could also help to stave off depression.
‘Our beliefs and our moods are reflected in our brain and with new imaging techniques we can begin to see this,’ Dr Myrna Weissman, a professor of psychiatry and epidemiology at Columbia University, told Reuters Health.
‘The brain is an extraordinary organ. It not only controls, but is controlled by our moods.’
While the new study suggests a link between brain thickness and spirituality, it cannot say that thicker brain regions cause people to be religious or spiritual, Dr Weissman and her colleagues noted in the journal JAMA Psychiatry.
It might hint, however, that being religious can enhance the brain’s resilience against depression in a physical way, they wrote.
Previously, the researchers had found that people who said they were religious or spiritual were at lower risk of depression.
They also found that people at higher risk of depression had thinning cortices, compared to those with lower depression risk.
For the new study, the researchers twice asked 103 adults between the ages of 18 and 54 how important religion or spirituality was to them and how often they attended religious services over a five year period.
In addition to being asked about spirituality, the participants’ brains were imaged once to see how thick their cortices were.
All the participants were the children or grandchildren of people who participated in an earlier study about depression.
Some had a family history of depression, so they were considered to be at high risk for the disorder. Others with no history served as a comparison group.
Overall, the researchers found that the importance of religion or spirituality to an individual – but not church attendance – was tied to having a thicker cortex. The link was strongest among those at high risk of depression.
‘What we’re doing now is looking at the stability of it,’ Dr Weissman, who is also chief of the Clinical-Genetic Epidemiology Department at New York State Psychiatric Institute, said.
Her team is taking more images of the participants’ brains to see whether the size of the cortex changes with their spirituality.
‘This is a way of replicating and validating the findings,’ she said.
Dr Dan Blazer, the Professor of Psychiatry at Duke University Medical Centre in Durham, North Carolina, said the study is very interesting but is still exploratory.
‘I think this tells us it’s an area to look at,’ Dr Blazer, who was not involved in the new study, said. ‘It’s an area of interest but we have to be careful.’
For example, he said there could be other areas of the brain linked to religion and spirituality. Also, spirituality may be a marker of something else, such as socioeconomic status.

Not just a pretty face: Shrewd Kelly Brook steps out to celebrate New Year…in her OWN bar

1 Jan

She may have ventured out into the city to celebrate New Year’s Eve, but socialite and model Kelly Brook clearly isn’t just a pretty face.
The brunette beauty took a gaggle of friends to party at her own bar, Steam and Rye, which opened in November.
Dressed up in a glamorous outfit which was clearly designed to help her party, she led the way from her central London home in style.
Wearing a purple, sequined dress with black shoes, the 34 year-old opted for a faux-fur coat and an Yves Saint Laurent clutch bag.
With her hair curled and to the side, she also wore diamond earrings and a light dusting of make-up.
The expedition to her bar is a shrewd move for Kelly, who is hoping to establish herself as an increasingly serious entrepreneur.
Kelly teamed up with Nick House – founder of London clubs Mahiki and Whisky Mist – to launch the venue, which is an American prohibiton-themed bar in the old Bank of New York building.
Despite this, there was no sign of her reported new boyfriend – male model Harvey Newton-Haydon.
The model is said to be ‘smitten’ with the chiselled 25-year-old hunk after having moved on from her on/off relationship with ex Danny Cipriani following his alleged infidelity.
The 6ft 1in British model has posed for the likes of John Galliano and was the face of both Richmond by John Richmond and Firetrap in 2010.
Kelly and ex-boyfriend Danny first split in 2010 and she began dating his former London Wasps teammate Thom Evans, but rekindled her romance with Danny in January this year.
They split again in August this year after she discovered he had cheated on her with a number of women.
Since they parted ways, Kelly has been romantically linked to a string of celebrity men, including Gethin Jones, Jeremy Piven, Dave Gardner and James Haskell.
Kelly’s representative declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline for comment on the Harvey rumours. However, a source told MailOnline that Harvey is currently not dating anyone.
